What Is an Endodontic Treatment?
Endodontics refers to the treatment of the inside of the tooth—primarily the root canals. When the dental pulp (the soft tissue inside the root) becomes inflamed or infected due to decay, trauma, or repeated dental procedures, a root canal treatment becomes necessary to save the tooth.
The procedure involves:
Cleaning and shaping the root canals
Removing bacteria and infected tissue
Sealing the canals to prevent reinfection
