What Is an Endodontic Treatment?
Endodontics refers to the treatment of the inside of the tooth—primarily the root canals. When the dental pulp (the soft tissue inside the root) becomes inflamed or infected due to decay, trauma, or repeated dental procedures, a root canal treatment becomes necessary to save the tooth.
The procedure involves:
Cleaning and shaping the root canals
Removing bacteria and infected tissue
Sealing the canals to prevent reinfection
What Makes Microscope Endodontics Different?
Compared with the classic treatment methods, the dental microscope offers:
Up to 25x magnification, as for the case of Zeiss OPMI PICO that we use in our practiceé dans notre cabinet
Shadow-free illumination of the treatment area
High-definition imaging for documentation and monitoring
This enhanced visibility helps us detect tiny details inside the tooth that are invisible to the naked eye—such as additional root canals, micro-fractures, calcifications, and old filling material during retreatments.
When Is Microscope Endodontics Recommended?
Retreatment of a failed root canal
Complex or curved root canal anatomy
Blocked or calcified canals
Detection of accessory canals
Broken instrument retrieval
