The dental microscope for endodontic treatments
Root canal treatment (also known as endodontic therapy) is a common procedure used to save a tooth that is infected or severely decayed. It involves cleaning and disinfecting the inside of the tooth and sealing it to prevent further damage.
While traditional root canals are effective, microscope-assisted endodontic treatment takes precision and care to the next level. At our clinic, we perform root canal therapy using the Zeiss OPMI Pico dental microscope, one of the most advanced tools available in modern dentistry.
Classic vs. Microscope-Assisted Endodontics
The biggest difference is visibility. Traditional treatment relies on the dentist’s vision, sometimes with magnifying loupes. In contrast, the Zeiss microscope provides up to 25x magnification and powerful lighting, allowing us to see the finest details inside the tooth—tiny canals, hidden fractures, or blockages that would be impossible to detect otherwise.
When Is a Microscope Needed?
We recommend microscope-assisted treatment especially in:
Retreatment of failed root canals
Teeth with unusual or blocked canal systems
Complex or curved root anatomy
Broken instrument retrieval
Benefits of Microscope Endodontics
More accurate diagnosis and treatment
Better preservation of healthy tooth structure
Higher long-term success rates
Faster and more comfortable recovery
Better documentation through imaging
At our practice, we believe in using the best technology for our patients. That’s why we’ve chosen the Zeiss OPMI Pico microscope, which helps us provide safer, more effective care—especially in challenging or high-precision cases.
